Enhancing My Ombré With Madison Reed

I've had an ombre, also known as a faded coloring style, in my hair for six months. I chose this hair style because it softly transitions from my natural hair color on top, to the dyed blonde color on bottom. It's financially practical, since you don't have to constantly go to the salon for root touch ups.

But being that I had "virgin" hair, my locks didn't take as well to the bleaching and coloring. The blonde soon turned to an orangish color.

I'm not ready to make the $200 trip back to the salon, so I used Madison Reed's Pisa Blonde coloring kit to revive my color. Madison Reed's line is free of numerous chemicals that make most hair dyes so awful, like phthalates and parabens.

The kit is simple, including the coloring cream, activation solution, barrier cream to prevent skin staining, gloves for application, a cap to keep hair in place, and some really great smelling shampoo.

I did make one small adjustment to the instructions since I was going for an ombre. Instead of dividing my hair into sections, I parted and combed thoroughly. Then after activating, I applied the coloring with my gloved hands. Every few minutes I would comb through it, to ensure good coverage. Then I popped the cap on and gently tucked my long strands inside.

After an episode of Game of Thrones, it was time to rinse. I'll add that my hair was insanely soft and the included shampoo gave it an awesome smell.

After drying, I was thrilled will my subtle yet noticeable change. The orange tones were transformed into a more smokey blonde that seemlessly blended with my brunette strands.

Another great thing about Madison Reed is their commitment to customers; they'll chat with you anytime to be sure you get the right color and results.

I definitely have a new "in between salon visits" routine. Now I'll save even more money while still having a great "do".
