Fort Benning to conduct prescribed burns Monday

Fort Benning will conduct prescribed burns in training areas Monday, May 8.The wind direction is expected to minimize smoke in sensitive areas. Wind direction can change due to shifts in the weather throughout the day.

There is no way to prevent smoke from affecting some sensitive areas with the prescribed burns. Therefore, smoke will be present near Kelly Hill during the day and possible Monday night. Smoke may also settle in the Upatoi Creek Drainage and move towards Martin Army Community Hospital at night.
