The event will include a Unit Challenge (the unit with the highest percentage of team members participating based on unit strength will win a prize) and a kids’ half-mile and 1-mile race for ages 4-13. Each child will receive two free spectator passes at registration.

This event is open to the public and requires no visitor’s access pass if you enter from Alabama Highway 165.

Register for this event today at https://www.spartan.com/en/race/detail/1942/overview and use the code BENNING17 for a 20 percent discount. (Verified military and first responders receive a 25 percent discount when they register through GovX.) Registration starts at $119.

The entry fee for spectators is $20 online or $25 cash on site. Parking is free. Race times are staggered, with the first starting at 7:30am, and the first kids’ race at 10am.

This race is perfect for athletes of all levels, from first timers to seasoned racers. The 5-mile course is packed with more than 20 military inspired obstacles and challenges. You can build your own team and compete with your friends, family and co-workers. Teams can be any size but must have at least four members to be included in the team rankings.

Attention Units! Enter your team to win the Spartan Ranger Challenge Benning Brigade Competition. The unit with the highest participation wins $1,000 in MWR Unit Funds and takes home the Gladius Rudis Sword to display at their unit. Perhaps the most famous Roman weapon, the Rudis was awarded to champion gladiators who earned their freedom in the coliseums of Rome. It was the greatest honor for a gladiator and they carried it with them for life to represent their triumphs and freedom. Here’s what to do: Establish a team name that includes a unit identifier (Example: 198th IN BDE Braves) and instruct members to individually register and enter team name at Spartan.com. Individuals already registered must email US@spartan.com and request to join their Brigade team.
